Alien is an incredible film, but what always stayed with me was Ripley herself.
Growing up surrounded by strong women, seeing a character like her at the centre of the story didn’t feel unusual - it felt natural. She wasn’t a hero because she was a woman; she was a hero because she was smart, capable and the person you wanted making the decisions when everything went wrong.
That’s what made Ripley different. She didn’t need to prove she belonged there.
