I don't think I've ever watched The Dark Knight without getting completely drawn back into Heath Ledger's performance. That's why I ended up painting this one not long after seeing the film.
It wasn't just the Joker. There was something fearless about the way Heath disappeared into every role he took on, and this one has stayed with me ever since. Every now and then an actor comes along who changes the way you look at your own work. Heath was one of those for me.
