Donnie Darko became one of those word-of-mouth favourites passed between friends with the question, "Have you seen this yet?" A strange mix of science fiction, mystery and coming-of-age, it's the kind of film that sparks conversations long after the credits roll. People either love it, hate it, or spend years trying to work out exactly what they just watched.
I first saw it as a teenager after my sister and her boyfriend introduced me to it, and something about the atmosphere of the film stuck with me. Sometimes you don't need all the answers — sometimes a film just leaves a feeling behind.
"You're weird."
"Sorry."
"No... that was a compliment."
